The British Residency, the preserved ruins and museum marking the 1857 Siege of Lucknow, maintained today as a heritage site.
The British Residency was the administrative complex of the East India Company’s Lucknow garrison and became the site of a prolonged siege during the 1857 uprising. The bullet-scarred ruins, cemetery and on-site museum are preserved today as one of the city’s most significant historical sites.
The Residency sits close to Hazratganj. Match with a Routism ride heading into central Lucknow to visit both.
