Chota Imambara, also called the Palace of Lights, a 19th-century mausoleum and one of Lucknow’s most photographed monuments.
Chota Imambara, formally Imambara Hussainabad Mubarak, was built in the 1830s by Nawab Muhammad Ali Shah as his own mausoleum. Known locally as the Palace of Lights for the chandeliers and gilded decorations inside, it sits near a reflecting pool and gateway modelled loosely on the Taj Mahal’s silhouette.
